The brand new Dream Studies Podcast: Listen to Episode 1 now

Hi Reader!

The stars have aligned and I just published the first episode of my new public podcast: the Dream Studies Podcast.

This is an old school audio-only podcast designed to enchant your day while you commute to work, do the dishes, or even better, as you settle down to relax in the evening in your pajamas.

In the inaugural episode, I sit down with dream expert Nicoline Douwes Isema for a wide-ranging conversation about where the field of dream studies stands today.. and where it's headed.

Some of the things we talk about:

  • How 100+ years of psychiatry and psychology inadvertently took dream ownership away from everyday people
  • The role of AI in dream interpretation: pattern recognition vs. meaning-making, and how to use it wisely
  • How dream sharing strengthens emotional connection (and yes, sexual intimacy) in relationships
  • Team dreaming and collective dream work, how dreaming together is more than just a creative problem-solving tool

My plan is to release a new episode every two weeks or so, in my usual slow publishing kind of way.

My ask to you: Subscribe, and listen all the way through so this new podcast has a chance with the algorithms out of the gate.

Bonus ask: Rate afterwards and share with your dreamy friends

My latest research

Two weeks ago a new article by myself and colleagues was published in the International Journal of Dream Research. In this article, we lay out a proposed method of online dreamwork for clinicians, focused on cocreative dreamwork theory.

This article closes a gap in the literature, showcasing the safety and effectiveness for asynchronous online dreamwork. That’s a mouthful – the term means dream sharing over secure forums, email or patient portals rather than face-to-face (synchronous) dream sharing.

If you’re a therapist, dream coach or someone who is serious about evidence-based methods for online dream sharing, I think you’ll get a lot out of this new piece. And please share it with your colleagues! We are hoping this article helps to elevate online dreamwork with clear and safe protocols that center accessibility.

Hi Reader! How’s your dream life? Lately, I’ve been noticing how simple habits are critical to my dreaming. For example, if I start the week off recording my dreams Monday morning, then I’m much more likely to do the same on Tuesday too. By Thursday, I'm enjoying a full back-and-forth conversation between waking life and my intuitive self, and by Saturday, a big lucid dream when I sleep in. So much of this creative flow depends on how my Monday morning goes. One disruption in routine, like...

This morning, I woke up from a dream and then closed my eyes. I felt the energetic rumbles take hold and "I" slipped through the mattress into a cool dark space. I was immersed in unseen water, and I felt the waters healing me. Relaxing into it, I then felt like I was drawn by a current of water, like drifting down a river. I woke up to the sound of morning world (honking horns) and despite my annoyance of the wake up -- I felt absolutely refreshed. Ok, time to get to kids to school. This is...
