Dream Studies Newsletter: dream journal tech, Lucid Talisman anniversary and André Breton

Hi Reader,

It's been a while since I've updated you about my latest publishing project: I'm working with the dream engineers at Elsewhere.to to create the world's first smart dream journal.

This is a physical dream journal that allows you to record your dreams analogue style (pen and paper) in an attractive stay-flat premium journal.

And this is where it gets interesting: from there, you can snap a pic with your smartphone and upload your dream text and images to the Elsewhere app. The app will analyze your handwriting and digitize the text.

Now you have a private digital dream record that gives you personal insights about your dream symbols, and if you choose, try the AI dream interpretation feature to see what Freud, Jung or contemporary dream researchers would say about your dream.

As I like to say, Dream Studies bring you the best of the old and the new. I will never give up my written journals, and now I don't have to -- I get the dream recall boosting and meditative benefits of dream journalling AND the analytical benefits of digital dream research revolution that's quietly underway.

We are getting the sample copies mailed out right now and anticipating the printer making our first print run next month. So maybe June 1st for shipment, if I may be so bold.

If you want to be the first in line when we start accepting pre-orders, click here.

And if you'd like to learn more about the team behind the Elsewhere app, here's a great podcast interview with them from the Wake the F*ck Up podcast.

Lucid Talisman 10 year Anniversary Fire Sale

It's hard to believe it's been a decade!

After personally shipping out thousands of lucid talisman shipping all over the world, it's time to clarify the mission.

So I am redesigning my dream amulets project from the ground up.

I'm doing the same for my book Lucid Talisman, by the way, which I let fall out of print a few months ago.

I can't share what's coming next just yet... but it's gonna be good.

So my next step is selling the rest of my current inventory -- none of the talisman I have now will be offered again in their current form.

Starting today, I'm offering a 25% off sale to help these last talisman find their homes.

Here's where to stock up on the last of this generation of Lucid Talisman. As always, free shipping in the US and partially funded shipping for international orders.

Participate in some Surreal Lucid Dreaming Poetry

Here's a note from lucid dreaming explorer Dave Green, who you may remember from his amazing lucid artwork :

I'm launching a new art project and I need your help. The plan is to create a poem in which the dream characters from different people's lucid dreams all collaborate on writing a poem together. It will work like a game of telephone.
So you'll go into a lucid dream and ask your dream character to respond to a line written by somebody else's dream character, then you give your line to the next person in the chain to have their dream character respond to your line and so on...
But it's not just any dream character we will be asking but André Breton, Surrealist poet and founder of Surrealism.
So the resulting poem will be like a collaborative Surrealist poem in which a long string of André Bretons will all be speaking to each other across multiple people's lucid dreams. There will be a website made called 'Infiniteandre' and eventually it will be open to anyone to contribute but to begin with I just need a couple of people to get the ball rolling.

Listen: What does Place-Based Collective Dreaming look like?

My friend Dr. Apela Colorado was recently interviewed on the Dream Journal Podcast.. and I make a surprise cameo halfway through!

Dr. Colorado has spent her life promoting an understanding between indigenous and modern world perspectives. With both Oneida Native American and Gaul/French ancestry, she founded the Worldwide Indigenous Science Network (WISN) in 1981 to help heal the gap. I have been lucky enough to work with WISN on dreamwork and archaeoacoustic projects too. In this podcast Dr Colorado and colleague Katrina Arriola describes the way she discovered a new/old way to ceremonially honor dreams after a chance side trip to the Chartres Cathedral in France.

It's a pretty magical listen.

Read deeply: Archaeology of Consciousness

Want to join me on a new adventure? I am writing a memoir in public about archaeology, dreams, sacred sites and other weird ways that material culture intersects with the Imaginal. It's less practical than this space, but with more long form story telling and deep dives into my personal archives.

In my last piece, I explore the way that ancient cultures protected against supernatural assault with dream amulets.

Future pieces will take us to Paleolithic caves of France, cloud forests in Nicaragua, getting chased by a pickup truck full of rednecks in the South Georgia pines... and a whole lot more.

May you have a dreamy week!

Hi Reader As a lifelong lucid dreamer with all its ups and downs, I know what it is like to struggle with working with lucid dreams. It can be difficult to call forth the wisdom of the dreaming mind to support your soulful goals. This could include dissolving a creative block, healing a nightmare wound, or exploring the non-dual spaces beyond your dream body. And learning how to navigate the dream world once you’re lucid is an emotional roller coaster. Truth is, navigating the lucid dream...

Hi Reader How’s your dreamlife? It's the dog days of summer here in the eastern woodlands of the US. The Perseids meteor shower just peaked but sadly I haven’t been able to see them. Why? because I live in Philadelphia where the night sky is occluded with light pollution. If I’m lucky, I can see half a dozen of the brightest stars in the sky. I’m thirsty for star light and dark skies. It really feels like an unmet need, a yearning. Have you ever felt this? There’s a word for this feeling:...
